Step aboard the most powerful personal watercraft in production as the Kawasaki Jet Ski Ultra 310X prepares to ride the swell on the open seas across the globe
If you like your water borne thrills a little more exciting than laps of the local municipal pool, chances are you probably ditched your wings and rubber ring many moons ago. And if you like your thrills astride 1,890lb of Japanese innovation, then the Kawasaki Jet Ski Ultra 310X is the answer to your prayers.
With a 1,498cc supercharged and inter-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine, the Ultra 310X boasts class leading tech and safety in one amazingly powerful machine. A deep V hull offers top performance in choppy waters, while Kawasaki Smart Steering assist riders when the throttle is quickly released at high speed. This helps new pilots become familiar with the 310X and enable them to manoeuvre the craft more easily. To further assist newbies, Smart Learning Operation helps anyone mad enough to fire the behemoth up to successfully steer it on the open seas.
For those less predisposed to speeding, 5mph mode can be engaged (though more likely, this is for when those pesky speed restrictions come in to force), which can also be allied with fuel economy assistance mode. And for the truly laid back, cruise control allows you and your two passengers to zoom about the harbour like you own the place. Five handlebar settings allow for multiple riders, all of whom can use part of the 56 gallon on board storage, located under the hood.
In fact, other than harbour speed limits, the only other limitation the Kawasaki Jet Ski Ultra 310X suffers from is its colour palette: it’s only available in Ebony/Metallic Stardust White. But then, that can only really be seen in 5mph mode – and who’ll ever use that?
