The KEF LS50 Wireless ‘Nocturne’ Speakers by Marcel Wanders rhythmically glow in the dark to add some sci-fi flair to your listening experience.
Orchestral manoeuvres in the dark have been given some added glow thanks to the luminescent effects of KEF’s limited edition Nocturne speakers.
The result of a collaboration with Dutch designer Marcel Wanders, the speakers use a combination of the British brand’s circular Uni-Q drivers and musical notation symbols, eventually creating a glowing effect when the lights are turned down.
Based on KEF’s extremely well received LS50 wireless speaker system, the Nocturne edition are said to carry an “orchestrated tempo” that reacts to UV and blacklight.
In terms of tech spec, the active speakers do away with the need for an external amp, include Bluetooth 4.0 aptX or Wi-Fi connectivity and can handle high resolution audio up to 192kHz/24-bit. There’s also a subwoofer output for the option of additional oomph.
Now, is it just us or is there a hint of Death Star in that design?
Prefer to steer clear of the dark side of the Force? The LS50’s come in a range of alternative finishes all with different coloured drivers to spice things up.
